Yolanda Sherrelle Lyons

Mrs. Yolanda Sherrelle Lyons, 43, departed this earthly life on Tuesday October 25, 2022 after a brief illness.

She was born in New Haven, CT on November 4, 1978 to Margaret Lyons and Nathan Livingston. Mrs. Lyons received her primary education in New Haven Connecticut. She continued to further her education at Southern Connecticut State University and received her Masters and Specialist in Education from Mercer University in Atlanta GA. She attended St. Matthews Baptist Church, New Haven CT faithfully with her grandmother.

Yolanda was employed at Graves Elementary School in Norcross, GA. She worked in Education for 17 years. She developed a program that was incorporated in the school system for testing gifted children. She enjoyed working with children. She volunteered and mentored the children in various programs and a variety of activities.

She and her husband loved to take exotic vacations. She took her first flight with her husband which turned out to be very interesting. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and spending quality time with her mom. They loved going to different restaurants and sampling various foods.

Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alfred and Nannie Lyons and her uncle, Claude Lyons.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 17 years, Dehconti Alfred Tubman; her parents, Nathan Livingston and Margaret Lyons; mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Rhoda Tubman; great aunts, Mary Puryear(Edward) and Mary Blanche Smith; sister-in-law, Tinisi Tubman; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, November11, 2022 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA.
