Woodell Redd

Mr. Woodell Redd, 83, of Buffalo Junction, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, October 23, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Redd was born in Red Oak, VA August 4, 1931 to the late Willie and Sallie Mosley Redd.  He received his early education in the schools of Charlotte County, VA.  He was formerly employed by Tre Wright Construction Company.   He was first married to Bessie Harris, and to this union seven children were born.  He later met and married Mary E. Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Harris, one sister, Emma Marable and one brother, Jessie Redd. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Mary Elaine Nelson Redd of Buffalo Junction, VA; five sons, Phil Redd of Clarksville, VA, Larry Redd of Norfolk, VA, Odell Redd of Boston, MA, Willie Redd (Patricia) of Richmond, VA and Jessie Redd (Renee) of Highland Park, IL; two daughters, Tammy Redd and Janae Nelson, both of Clarksville, VA; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren;  two brothers, Willie Redd of Red Oak, VA and Elijah Redd of Clarksville, VA; one sister, Rosa Shields of Red Oak, VA; one daughter-in-law, Emma Harris; nine brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Woodell Redd will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 27, 2014 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Charles D. Allen, officiating.  Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Red Oak, VA.  Public viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday from 12:00 noon until 6:00 P.M.  Arrangements are by C.
