Willis Sr. Smith

Mr. Willis  Smith, Sr., 91, of Skipwith, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, May 9, 2015 at VCU/Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, Virginia. Mr. Smith was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia November 24, 1923 to the late Johnie and Annie Pettus Smith. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, Virginia and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church, Skipwith, Virginia. He served on the Deacon Board, as a Trustee and was a member of the choir. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a retiree of Burlington Industries having worked for more than 30 years.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Holmes Smith; two sisters, Alnora Haskins and Mary Smith and four brothers, John, Arthur, Wallace and Hayes Smith. Cherishing his memories are two sons, Willis Smith, Jr. (Susan) of Amelia, Virginia and Michael Smith (Victoria) of Columbia, South Carolina; four grandchildren, April Sharp, Corey Smith, Ashley Smith and Brenton Smith; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Margaret Smith and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Willis Smith, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Bluestone Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Lawrence T. Wilkerson, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Public viewing for family and friends will be Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Services 11:00 A.M.
