Mr. William Junior Puryear, 66, of Petersburg, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. Mr. Puryear, affectionately known as “June” or “MooPoo”, was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on May 10, 1953 to the late Ned Moody and Gertrude Puryear. At an early age he joined Silone Baptist Church in Chase City, and later attended Union Baptist Church in Hopewell, VA. He was a 1971 graduate of Bluestone Senior High School in Skipwith. Mr. Puryear worked in security for Fort Lee Lodging, and was a retiree of the U.S. Army Reserve. He enjoyed fixing and detailing vehicles. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Karen Puryear of Prince George, VA; one son, Jeffrey E. Martin (Domonic) of North Dinwiddie, VA; two daughters, Veronica Small (Moses) of Clarksville, VA and Deidra Martin of Prince George, VA; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one brother, Edward “Billy” Puryear (Mary) of Chase City, VA; two sisters, Anne Burton (Charles) and Joanne Crutchfield all of Chase City, VA, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. William Junior Puryear will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
