Mr. William Hawkins Jr. better known as “J.R.” of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest Friday, December 29, 2006 in Boydton, VA.Mr. Hawkins was born in Halifax County, VA January 27, 1987 to William Sr. and Alveria Townes Hawkins. He was a graduate of Bluestone Senior High School, Skipwith, VA and was attending Morris College, Sumter, SC. He had represented the state of Virginia in Hawaii as a member of the USA Tourney Sports Team. He was a member of New St. Douglas Baptist Church, Boydton, VA where he served as a Junior Usher and sang in the Junior Choir.Cherishing his memories are parents William Sr. and Alveria T. Hawkins of Boydton, VA; one brother, Brandy Ratliff, Des Moines, IO; three sisters, Tanisha Hawkins of Boydton, VA, Crystie Hawkins-West (Karriem), Sanford, NC and Amber Walker of South Hill, VA; grandparents Julia Hawkins, Willie Bullock (Priscilla) all of Henderson, NC; sister-in-law Andrea Ratliff, Chase City, VA; five aunts Glenda Osborne (Billy), Gloria Small (Victor Sr.), Diane (the late Rev. John Hargrove, Sr.), Deborah Bullock, Durham, NC and Phyllis Ann Hawkins, Augusta, GA; five uncles, Henry Goode (Linda), William Goode Jr. (Cheryl), Larry Hawkins (Sarah), Wayne Hawkins (Mattie) and Tyrone Bullock; six great aunts, two great uncles, five nieces, four nephews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mr. William Hawkins Jr. will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 4, 2007 at New St. Douglas Baptist Church, Boydton, VA with Rev. Chester Terry, Sr. delivering the eulogy and Rev. Linda B. Goode assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 4th Street, Clarksville, VA.
