William Jerry Francis

Mr. William Jerry Francis, 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Chase City Health and Rehab Center.

Mr. Francis was born August 22, 1937 in Charlotte County, VA to the late Edward and Ethel Francis. At an early age he joined First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA. He entered the workforce at an early age, and was a successful farmer producing wheat, tobacco and soybeans. Mr. Francis used his farm equipment and lumber to further his prosperity by building his home, barns and sheds with his own hands. He was also employed by Charlotte County Public Schools as a dedicated, beloved bus driver with over 50 years of service. He enjoyed serving as a mentor to the young men in the neighborhood.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Staten Francis; one step-child; brothers, James Allen Francis, Howard "TIP" Puryear, Clarence Gilliam, Bobby Gilliam, and Roosevelt Gilliam; and his sisters, Cora Puryear Boyd, Mary Puryear Morton, and Syvilla Puryear Barnes.

He leaves to cherish his memories his last surviving sibling, Martha Price of Manassas, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

A memorial service for Mr. William Jerry Francis will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA with Rev. Phillip Staten, officiating.
