William James Saunders

Mr. William James Saunders (Diesel) 71, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Mr. Saunders was born in Charlotte County, VA May 27, 1935 to the late Garfield and Negolie Saunders. He attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA and was employed by Jonbil Manufacturing over 20 years prior to retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church Wylliesburg, VA. Mr. Saunders was preceded in death by four brothers, Garfield, Jr., Irving, Nathaniel and Roosevelt Saunders. Cherishing his memories are two daughters, Karla B. Malone (John) of Broadnax, VA and Carroll B. Holtzclaw of Hampton, VA; two sons, Derrick Bowers of Bronx, NY and Mark Anthony Mitter (Pamela) of Petersburg, VA; six grandchildren, three brothers, Nelson Saunders of Charlotte County, VA, Harvey Saunders of Salem, VA and Jesse Saunders of Chase city, VA; one sister, Margaret White of Chase City, VA; two aunts Toria Hughes of New Jersey and Ellen Banks of Farmville, VA , four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, devoted friends, Florence B. Saunders, Ezie Elam and Phillip C. Malone. Funeral services for Mr. William James Saunders will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA with Rev. Opie Terrell, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
