Mr. William Elmore Clay, Sr., 75, of Nelson, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Clay, fondly known as “Bud”, was born in Mecklenburg County, VA October 22, 1944 to the late Elmore and Martha Clay Lewis. He attended West End High School in Skipwith, VA, and at an early age joined Cherry Hill Baptist Church. He was previously employed by American Buildings as a truck driver. In 1967 he was united in marriage to Delphine Crutchfield Clay, this union was blessed with four children. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clay was preceded in death by his wife, Delphine Clay, and a grandson, Trey Williams. He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Danana ( Franklin) of Bullock, NC and Vandelisa of Buffalo Junction, VA; two sons, William, Jr. of Townsville, NC and Robert (Edith) of Buffalo Junction, VA; six grandchildren, Petey, Raven, Reminisce, Brandon, Byron and Jamai; five great-grandchildren; Jayden, Kennedy, Raheem, Brielle and Jamai, Jr.; devoted cousins, Johnny Darden, James Thomas and Henry Lee Clay; a special friend, Shirley Yancey; two brothers-in-law, Linwood Nelson and Conway Crutchfield, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A memorial service for Mr. William Elmore Clay, Sr. will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 19, 2020 in the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Minister George Bell delivering the eulogy. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
