William Edward Washington

Mr. William Edward Washington, 72 of Chase City, Virginia entered eternal rest Saturday, December 6, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Washington was born in Clarksville, VA March 2, 1942 to the late Edward and Inez Marie Atkins Washington. He was a graduate of West End High School class of 1960. He attended Virginia State College (now University) in Petersburg, VA. Mr. Washington was formerly employed by NASA as an Engineer; a licensed real estate agent and a Concert Promoter from 1971 until 2010. At an early age he joined Jesus Name Church of Christ (now Harper’s Temple) in Clarksville, VA. Mr. Washington was preceded in death by his father, Edward Washington, his mother, Inez Atkins W. Harper and a brother, Bobby Ray Washington. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Beatrice Hector Washington of Chase City, VA; one daughter, Michelle D. Askew (Aaron) of Washington, DC; five grandchildren, Christopher, Aaries, Erin, Messiah and Zyiion; step-father, Elder Vernell Harper of Clarksville, VA; one sister, I. Delores W. Dillard-Davis of Richmond, VA; three brothers, James C. Washington Sr. (Alice) Henrico, VA, Charles R. Washington (Denise) of Columbus, OH, Benjamin Washington (Janice) of Chester, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. William Edward Washington will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Robert E. Lee Auditorium, 121 East Second Street, Chase City, VA with Elder Vernell Harper and Rev. Lawrence Wilkerson delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Washington Family Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Public viewing for family and friends Thursday, Dec. 18, from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
