Mr. William Edward Oliver, 76, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, April 28, 2014 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Mr. Oliver was born in Chase City, VA May 24, 1937 to the late Murray Lee and Virginia Jones Oliver. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a retired employee of Butlers Farm having worked for 55 years. He later was employed by Mecklenburg County Public Schools as a bus driver. In addition to his parents, Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his first wife, Pheobba Ananias Oliver, one son, Billy Oliver, two grandsons, three sisters and one brother. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Emma D. Oliver of Chase City, VA; six children, Robert Oliver (Augusta) of Georgia, Arnita Oliver of Upper Marlboro, MD, Ray Oliver (Barbara) of Clarksville, VA, Vivian Ellis, Alexander Oliver (Bonnie) and Colin  Oliver (Crystal) all of Chase City, VA;five step-children, Helen Smith (Samuel), Monica Hurt (George), Irvin Davis, Carlos Davis an Greg Davis, all of Chase City, VA;  32 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren; six brothers, Charles Oliver, Preston Oliver (Linda) and Altonio Oliver (Donna) all of Yonkers, NY, Harold Oliver (Mary) of Chase City, VA, Oliver Oliver of Berlin, NJ and Darryl Oliver (Cynthia) of Richmond, VA; one sister, Eula Hinds (T.C.) of Yonkers, NY; one aunt, Juanita Branch; one son-in-law, Michael Ellis Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Marsha Oliver, one sister-in-law, Nannie Watson; two brothers-in-law, Bennie Staten and Joseph Staten and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. William Edward Oliver will be conducted 2:00 P.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Services 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 4, 2014 Giles-Harris Funeral Home Chapel Chase City, VA Interment Thyne Memorial Presby. Church Cem. Public Viewing Saturday, 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.
