Mr. William Early Wood, 89, of Richmond, VA and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Chippenham Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mr. Wood was born in Chase City, VA on November 13, 1932 to the late Mary Watkins and Ned Dyke Alexander Wood. He was a graduate of West End High School, and a member of Concord Baptist Church in Chase City, VA. Mr. Wood was a United States Navy veteran, and a retiree of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In his spare time, he enjoyed singing, fishing, and telling jokes. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by three brothers, Dan, Cleveland and Ned Dyke Wood, and three sisters, Pearl Wood-Boulden, Frances Wood and Albertha Wood-Hayes. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Elden William Wood of Teaneck, NJ; daughter, Arlette Diane Wood of Bushkill, PA, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. William Early Wood will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 13, 2022 at Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Jacqueline S. McClenney officiating. Inurnment will take place at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M.
