Mr. Wilfred Everett Robinson, 79, affectionately known as “Bo” of Brooklyn, NY and formerly of Fort Mitchell, VA, entered eternal rest on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Cobble Hill Health Center, Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Robinson was born in Fort Mitchell, VA May 19, 1938 to the late Lauman and Earnestine Robinson. He was a graduate of Lunenburg High School, Victoria, VA and a member of Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA. Mr. Robinson relocated to New York in 1957, where he began working at Conbro Products until he retired. He was an active member of AFL-CIO UAW District 65, where he advocated for equal rights for all. He was also a member of the “Just Friends Organization”, The Black Affairs Committee and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionist and participated in the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. He also travelled, assisted and managed the acapella singing group “The Sons of Glory”. Cherishing his memories are three daughters, Wanda Jean Robinson of NYC, Vanessa Y. Clark (Halbert) of Ewing, NJ and Kai Carmichael (John) of Live Oak, FL; one son, Ronald E. Robinson (Robin) of Union City, NJ; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Wilma T. Robinson and Norma Jean Tucker both of NYC; three brothers, Carlyse Robinson of Victoria, VA, Jerry Robinson and James Roscoe Robinson both of Fort Mitchell, VA; one uncle and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Wilfred Everett Robinson will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Minister Timothy Green delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 4:30 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
