Walter Wright Evans

Mr. Walter Wright Evans 71, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the W.S. Hundley Annex, South Hill, VA. Mr. Evans was born in Mecklenburg County, VA April 14, 1938 to the late Jesse Burton and Cora Thompson Evans. Mr. Evans was a 1955 graduate of West End High School; he was a retiree of Burlington Industries having served 37 years and a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, Boydton, VA. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mae Howell, two sisters, Beatrice and Melinda and two brothers, Herman and Jessie. Cherishing his memories are eight children, Annie Lee (Lawrence), Wendell (Grace) Walter Jr. (Phyllis) and Yvonne (Kenneth) all of Boydton, VA., David (Pamela) of Lawrenceville, VA Clinton (Zeda) of Stella, NC., Dell and Freddie both of Richmond, VA.; 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nanny Evans of Bronx, NY; two brothers, David (Alice) of Newark, NJ and Lawrence (Norvel)of Boydton, VA; one sister-in-law, Minnie Evans; a devoted friend, Brenda Winn and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Walter Wright Evans will be conducted 1:00 Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at St. Paul Baptist Church, Boydton, VA with Rev. Dennis King, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home, 1304 North Main St. Chase City, VA.
