Walter David Conner

Mr. Walter David Conner, 84, of Clarksville, VA died Thursday, May 3, 2018. Mr. Conner was born November 3, 1933 in Roanoke, VA, and was the son of the late Roy and Mammie Marie Cook Conner. He was married to Linda Ann App Conner. Mr. Conner was the long-time band director at Bluestone High School, before leaving that position to create Bluestone's photojournalism program. He was also the school's choir director. After retirement, he continued to teach band, photojournalism and yearbook at Oak Ridge Military Academy in Kernersville, N.C. Mr. Conner was a U. S. Army Veteran. He is survived by two sons, W. David Conner II of South Boston, VA and Michael Leigh Conner (Merlita) of Clarksville, VA; four grandchildren, Tripp, James and Neal Conner all of South Boston, VA and Jessica Debsiw (Reggie) of Clarksville, VA, and two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Ysebelle Debsiw. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Conner was pre-deceased by his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Cope Conner. The family will receive friends Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. No services are planned. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
