Walter Benjamin Davis

Mr. Walter Benjamin Davis, 84, of Suitland, MD and formerly of Lunenburg County, VA entered eternal rest Monday, May 29, 2006 in Suitland, MD.  Mr. Davis was born in Lunenburg County, VA August 12, 1921 to the late Hal and Helen Craighead Davis. He received his education in the Lunenburg County Public Schools  and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, VA. Before retiring he was employed with Goode Construction Company of Washington, D.C.  Mr. Davis was preceded in death by seven brothers, Walter, William, Robert, George, John Thomas, Sam Curtis, Earnest, and Nan and three sisters, Louise, Eva Florence and Idell.   Cherishing his memories is his wife, Bessie Davis of Fort Mitchell, VA; one step-son, Trussell Knot of Fort Mitchell, VA; one niece he raised as his daughter, Evangelist Bettie-Beard; two brothers, Thelbert Davis and Isaac Davis both of Chase City, VA; two daughters-in-law; Katherine Davis of Boydton, VA and Dorothy Davis of Drakes Branch, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Walter Benjamin Davis will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday June 3, 2006 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Jasper Cheek, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Victoria, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
