Wade Franklin Morton, Jr.

Mr. Wade Franklin Morton, Jr., 79, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Centra Southside Hospital, Farmville, VA.

Mr. Morton was born in Charlotte County, VA Nov. 2, 1943 to the late Wade Sr. and Evelyn Davis Morton. He was a graduate of Central High School and Southside Skill Center receiving a certificate in welding. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Randolph, VA. He was the owner/operator of Duke’s Dumping. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming and gardening.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morton was preceded in death by his sisters, Sula Morton Burton and Ruth Morton Turner.

Cherishing his memory are his wife, Annie P. Morton of Saxe, VA; daughter, Lashawn York (Michael) of Sanford, NC; extended children in love, Karen D. Mosley of Fredericksburg, VA, Lisa M. Walton (Wayne) of South Boston, VA and Alicia M. Mosley of Chesterfield, VA; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Drake and Debbie Morton both of Richmond, VA and Faye Morton of Suffolk, VA; one brother-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Randolph, VA with Rev. Charles Scott, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Monday from 2 until 6 P.M. at the funeral home.
