Vernell Williams Smith-Land

Mrs. Vernell Williams Smith Land, 76, of Fairview, NJ entered eternal rest Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Bronx, NY. Mrs. Land was born in Farmville, NC May 13, 1939 to the late Geneva and James A. Williams. She received her education in the schools of North Carolina and upon graduation relocated to New York, where she worked as a machinist and a nurse’s aide. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. Cherishing her memories are her husband of fifty years, Willie E. Land of Fairview, NJ; two sons, James (Pete) of North Carolina and Rodney (Nicole) of California; five daughters, Rosalind and Raynell, both of Bronx, NY, Rhonda (Clyde) of Allentown, PA and Claudette and Lillie, both of Atlanta, GA; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Vernell Williams Smith Land will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 17, 2015 at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA.
