Vernell Juanita Gordon

Miss Vernell Juanita Gordon, 72, of Richmond, VA and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Memorial Regional Medical Center, Mechanicsville, VA. Miss Gordon was born in Mecklenburg County, VA August 4, 1948 to the late Raymond and Irene Dodson Gordon. She received her education in the public schools of Mecklenburg County, furthering her education at Virginia State University and later J. Sargent Reynolds Community College. She was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church in Richmond and attended North Gayton Baptist Church in Henrico. Miss Gordon retired from the Internal Revenue Service after many years of service. In addition to her parents, Miss Gordon was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Gordon Piercy, and brother, Raymond Gordon. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Jeffrey Trelane Gordon of Richmond, VA; sister, Regina Gordon-Couch (Ray) of Sandston, VA; a loving aunt, Leola Wood of Chase City, VA; dedicated cousin, E. Charles Williams of Richmond, VA; and adored nephew, Trenton Gordon (Angie) of Chase City, VA; her best friends, Audrey, Sandy, Rhonda and Alma, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA with Elder Kenyatta Evans officiating. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a mask will be required for all viewings and services. We ask that you adhere to all guidelines, and practice social distancing. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
