Vera P. Newton

Mrs. Vera P. Newton, 59, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Friday, November 12, 2010 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC. Mrs. Newton was born in Mecklenburg County, VA Nov. 28, 1950 to the late Otis and Martha Allen Pulliam. She was a 1969 graduate of West End High School and a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA; where she sang with choir. She was a former employee of Burlington Industries. Cherishing  her memories are her husband of 39 years, Melton C. Newton of Clarksville, VA; two sons Kevin (Kiesett) of Gambrills, MD and Kenneth Newton of Clarksville, VA; two sisters, Sarah B. Pulliam and Maxcine  Pulliam Walker of Petersburg, VA; one brother Brian Pulliam  (Joyce) of Skipwith, VA; mother-in-law, Frances L. Newton; sister-in-law, Winnie N McQueen (Vester); two brothers-in-law, Michael and Marvis Newton (Sharon);uncle, Willie Allen (Janice) Bridgeport, CT; aunts; Louise Allen, Newark, NJ; Ethel Allen Harris, Skipwith, VA, Mary Ella Allen, Petersburg, VA, Sarah Pulliam of NJ, Myrtle Allen of New York City, NY; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends, including the Rocky Mount Church family and the Cherry Hill Church family.  Funeral services for Mrs. Vera P. Newton will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at Cherry Hill Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Charles D. Allen, officiating. Burial will follow in Wharton Memorial Gardens, Nelson, VA.  Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
