Vera Naomi Land Jones

Mrs. Vera Naomi Land Jones, 80, of South Hill, VA and formerly of Chase City passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Jones was born in Chase City, VA on September 17, 1942 to the late Daniel and Corine Land. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, and was a graduate of West End High School in Skipwith. Mrs. Jones relocated to Richmond, and worked as a licensed Cosmetologist. She owned and operated Vera’s New York Hair Salon on 9th and Broad Street for years, and continued to style hair after her retirement. Mrs. Jones supported her community by advocating for the poor and homeless. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cookouts, and fishing trips. In her private time, she enjoyed drawing on her tablet, reading her bible, and writing in her journals. She was loved and is remembered by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Land, Brigitte Jones and Yvette Jones; sons, David Jones and Troy Jones; grandson, Isaiah Benjamin Land; sisters, Carolyn Chavis, Mary Oliver and Jenny Dailey; nephews, James (Bone), Marshall and Daniel; nieces, Kendra, Vera, Thelma, and Helen, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

A memorial service for Mrs. Vera N. Jones will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Jenkins Banquet Hall, 2003 Grayland Avenue, Richmond, VA 23220 from 6pm until 8pm.
