Vera Alyce Elliott Watkins

Mrs. Vera Alyce Elliott Watkins, 59, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Watkins was born in Queens, NY on September 29, 1957 to the late Nannie Elliott. At an early age, she relocated to Virginia and was a graduate of Pembroke High School, Hampton, VA; furthering her education at State University of New York. At an early age, she joined Second Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA where she served as church clerk and Sunday school teacher. She later joined St. John Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA. Mrs. Watkins was a former employee of Jones Apparel Group, Inc., South Hill, VA. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her grandparents. Cherishing her memories are her loving husband, Gary S. Watkins of Clarksville, VA; one son, David Hankins, Sr. (Tameka) of South Boston, VA; one daughter, Gabrielle Watkins of South Boston, VA; five grandchildren, Howard, Aryàn, Haylee, Kaitlyn, and David, Jr; one special friend, Sylvonna Lynch and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Vera Alyce Elliott Watkins will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at St. John Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA with Pastor Demario Covington, officiating. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
