Tommie L. Pettus Sr.

Mr. Tommie Lee Pettus Sr., 61, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, February 1, 2009 at VCU/MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mr. Pettus was born in Chase City, VA May 27, 1947 to the late Junius and Elizabeth Mosley Pettus.  He was a 1967 graduate of West End High School and was a member of Silone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. He was a former member of the Chase City Volunteer Fire Dept. and a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed for 29 years at Burlington Industries, Inc. of Clarksville, VA and later by Alcan Packaging of Chase City, VA. Mr. Pettus was preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Elizabeth Pettus and one brother, Charles Pettus. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Cora Pettus of Chase City, VA; one son, Tommie Lee Pettus Jr. (Denise)of Canton, GA; one daughter, Courtney Pettus House (Kal) of Chase City, VA; six grandchildren, five sisters, Margaret Pettus of Irvington, NJ, Christine Pettus of Chase City, VA, Marie Pettus of Orange, NJ, Ruth Dickerson of West Orange, NJ, Joyce Pettus of Newark, NJ; one brother, Robert Pettus of Washington, DC; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, devoted friend Mills Brooks and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Tommie Lee Pettus will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 6, 2009 at Silone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer, officiating. Burial will follow in the Thyne Memorial Presbyterian church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St., Chase City, VA.
