Thomas Martin

Mr. Thomas Martin, 77, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October, 18, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Martin was born in Boydton, VA on August 22, 1939 to the late George and Pattie Lou Smith Martin. He attended West End High School and was formerly employed as a forklift operator for Seaboard Supply Company in Irvington, NJ. Mr. Martin was a United States Army Veteran who enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Martin, Jr.; one grandson, Joseph Martin; two brothers, Chester and Eddie Martin and one sister, Eula Martin. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Shelly Martin of Boydton, VA; seven children, Thomasena Martin (John) and Michelle Martin both of Boydton, VA, Alvester Martin (Sandra) of Skipwith, VA, Claudine Martin of Florence, SC, Brigitte Minatee Vinson (Willie) of Graham, NC, Tonya Martin Franklin (Arnie) of Burlington, NC and Claude Martin of Bethesda , MD; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, George Robert Martin (Beverly) of Clarksville, VA; three sisters-in-law, Monet White, Lazette Few and Ola Mae Martin; one brother-in-law, Douglas Minatee and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Martin will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Lisa Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery, Boydton, VA. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
