Thomas Edward Couch, Sr.

Mr. Thomas Edward Couch, Sr., 67, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, December 5, 2015 at VCU Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Mr. Couch was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on May 16, 1948 to the late Roosevelt and Ruth Virginia Freeman Couch. He was a graduate of West End High School and was employed by Phillip Morris USA, Richmond, VA where he retired after thirty years of service.  He was a member of Concord Baptist Church where he previously served as a trustee, president of the usher board, a member of the missionary committee, and chairman of the transportation committee. He loved being outside; doing gardening, lawn grooming, fishing, hunting, traveling, and community services.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Pamplin Couch and two brothers, Earnest Couch andTyree Couch.  Thomas was a very active citizen in the Chase City community in which he enjoyed.  He served his community by transporting the sick and shut-in as well as elders to and from various health facilities that were located in Richmond, Charlottesville, South Boston, Farmville, and Lynchburg, VA.  He also took delight in transporting the missionary members to visit the inactive elderly members of Concord Baptist Church, who  moved to live with their family members. Cherishing his memories are his companion, Diane Brown of Chase City, VA; four sons, Keith C. Hayes of Fort Worth, TX, Owl Couch and Thomas E. Couch, Jr.,   both of Chase City, VA and Alphonzo Pamplin of Richmond, VA; two daughters, Trimica S. Couch  and Juanita Pamplin both of Richmond, VA; ten grandchildren; one sister, Francis Lucy Faison of Baltimore, MD; one aunt; two uncles; a loyal and devoted friend, William Parrish of Clarksville, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Edward Couch, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh Bagley III, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Services 11:00 A.M.
