Mrs. Thelma Williams Young (Nellie), 89, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 17, 2021 in Washington, DC. Mrs. Young was born in Newark, NJ on November 12, 1931 to the late James Williams and Lillie Mae Perteet. She attended of South Side High School in Newark, and was a retiree of General Motors with 15 years of service. Mrs. Young was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Baskerville, VA where she served as President of the Deaconess Ministry and was active with the Senior and Mass Choirs. She was also a member of the AARP Twin Lakes Chapter in South Hill, VA, and a community soloist. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Young, Sr.; children, LaVerne Young, James R. Young, Jr., Janet M. Young and John A. Young, and two sisters, Emily Jordan and Catherine Young. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Stephen V. Young (Shirley) and Rev. Mark K. Young (Rev. Zella) all of Boydton, VA; one daughter, Karen L. Young of Washington DC, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma W. Young will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 2, 2021 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Elder Kenyatta Evans delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, South Hill, VA. Public viewing will be held on Thursday, July 1st from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
