Sylvia Ann Saunders

Ms. Sylvia Ann Saunders, 73, of South Hill, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the Johnston-Willis campus of CJW Medical Center, Richmond, VA.

Ms. Saunders was born in Farmville, VA on November 26, 1949 to the late James Henly and Esther W. Saunders. She was a graduate of East Orange High School in East Orange, NJ, and furthered her education at Essex County Occupational Institute in New Jersey. She attended Gethsemane Baptist Church in South Hill, VA, and was a member of Silone Baptist Church in Chase City, VA. Ms. Saunders was formerly employed in occupational health and retail sales. In her spare time, she enjoyed music, reading and attending church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Matthew and Serina Saunders, and maternal grandparents, Earl and Ruth Walker.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory two brothers, James H. Saunders, Jr. of Easton, PA and David S. Saunders of Jersey City, NJ, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Sylvia Ann Saunders will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 18, 2023 at Silone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 2 to 6:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 P.M.
