Stephen Vincent Hatcher

Mr. Stephen Vincent Hatcher, 45, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill, Virginia. Mr. Hatcher was born in Chase City, Virginia  March 29, 1967, son of Winthy Hatcher Jr. and the late Evelyn Deloris. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County Public School System.  Mr. Hatcher was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Chase City where he served as a member of the Usher Board.           He was employed with Burlington Industries for several years and then Lewis Tree Service until his health began to fail. Following in his father’s footsteps he joined the Chase City Vol. Fire Department where he served over 5 years.  Stephen was well known in the community as DJ Magic for playing music at local gatherings and for the Kids Night Out at the YMCA.  He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Deloris Hatcher, paternal grandparents Winthy Sr. and Julia Hatcher; maternal grandparents Harvey and Clara Watkins Harper Thomas, two aunts and four uncles.  Cherishing his memories are his wife, Peggy Hatcher of Chase City, VA; three children Stephen Donte Hatcher of Chase City VA, Sean Vincent Hatcher, and Madisyn Grace Hatcher both of  Keysville, VA; one grandchild, Ja’Kiah Walker of Chase City, VA;  his father Winthy Hatcher Jr. of Chase City VA; one brother,  Harvey Hatcher of Clarksville, VA;  two aunts; three uncles; father and mother-in-law;   one sister-in-law; two brother-in-law, VA;  and a vast number of other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Stephen V. Hatcher will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Ricky A. Lee, delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday 10:00 A.M. until 7 P.M.
