Mr. Silas Byrd Smith, 68, of Red Oak, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at South Boston Health and Rehab, South Boston, VA.
Mr. Smith was born August 7, 1954 in Halifax County, VA to the late Walter, Sr. and Lillie Byrd Mosley Smith. He enjoyed playing checkers, UNO and Connect Four. He also loved remote control cars and watching wrestling.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Paul M. Smith, and two sisters, Ophelia Daniels and Sharon Dodd.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory three brothers, Walter Smith, Jr. (JoAnn), Wayne Smith and Chester Smith (Jackie) all of Red Oak, VA; three sisters, Daisey Pettus and Regina Smith both of Red Oak, VA and Teresea Pettus (Quincy) of Boydton, VA; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; brother-in-law, Lamont Dodd, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Silas B. Smith will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Prophet Harry L. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Red Oak, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
