Shirley Miles Yancey

Mrs. Shirley Miles Yancey, 85, of Clarksville, VA eternal rest on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Yancey was born in Person County, NC on February 20, 1937 to the late John and Dora Burton Miles. She received her early education from the Person County Public Schools, and was a graduate of Piedmont Technical College in Roxboro, NC. At an early age, she joined Elijah Grove Baptist Church in Roxboro where she sang in the Senior Choir. Mrs. Yancey was a former correctional officer for Mecklenburg Correctional Center in Boydton, VA, retiring after 12 ½ years of service. In her spare time, she loved singing and playing the piano.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Giles Yancey, seven sisters and five brothers.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted son, Thomas Edmund Yancey (Connie) of Buffalo Junction, VA; granddaughter, Channa Deeprea Fleming (Jullian) and great-granddaughter, Skylar Jai´ Fleming all of Buffalo Junction, VA; brother-in-law, Herman Rainey of Newark, NJ, a host of nieces and nephews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Miles Yancey will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA . Interment will be private. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
