Sherman Branch Jr.

Mr. Sherman Branch Jr. 64, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Mr. Branch was born in Boligee, AL March 1, 1943 to the late Sherman Branch Sr. and Susie Greenfield Branch. Mr. Branch was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. His occupational career included security guard, custodial worker and a self employed landscaper. He retired form the East Ramapo School District, Spring Valley, NY. He was also a member of the International Mason and Eastern Star, Saint Luke Lodge # 434 where he served as treasurer and held the rank of Half Master. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Branch in 1971. Cherishing his memories is his wife, Mary Eliza Branch of Chase City, VA; six children, Charles Watts (Tony) of California, Deborah Branch of Highland Falls, NY, Sheldon Williams of Atlanta, GA, Adrian Branch of Spring Valley, NY, Sherman Branch III of Las Vegas, NV and Tracy Branch of Chase City, VA; nine grandchildren, one great grandson; two brothers, Ivan Branch of Willingboro, NJ and Walter Branch Sr. of Baskerville, VA; four sisters, Mary Winston of Brooklyn, NY, Susie Taylor and Lue Belle Scott of Nyak, NY and Rose Sutton of Queens, NY and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Sherman Branch Jr. will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Earl Douglas Reams, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 8 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
