Shelley M. Martin

Mrs. Shelley M. Martin, 70, of Boydton, VA died on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA.

Mrs. Martin was born in Newark, NJ on February 4, 1953 to the late Leroy and Delores Minatee. She was formerly employed by East Orange VA Medical Center in New Jersey as a medical secretary. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and traveling. She was the loving wife of the late Thomas Martin.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Martin, Jr.; grandson, Joseph Martin; and two brothers, Lester Minatee and Leroy Minatee, III.

Cherishing her memories are her children, Bridgitte Minatee Vinson of Graham, NC, Tonyia Franklin (Arnie) of Burlington, NC, Michelle Martin and Claude Martin both of Boydton, VA, Thomasena Martin of Akron, Ohio, Claudine Martin of Florence, SC, and Alvester Martin of Skipwith, VA; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one brother, Douglas Minatee; two sisters, Monet White (Tyrone) of Boydton, VA and Lazette Minatee Few (Louie) of Burlington, NC; brother-in-law, George Robert Martin (Beverly) of Clarksville, VA; aunt, Millicent Degree of Boydton, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shelley M. Martin will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Bro. Herbert Stith delivering the word. Burial will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery, Boydton, VA. Public viewing will begin on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M.
