Mrs. Sharon Lorraine Dodd, 51, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA . Mrs. Dodd was born in Red Oak, VA on February 1, 1971 to the late Joel Jackson Harris and Lillie Byrd Smith. She attended Charlotte County Public Schools and graduated from Randolph-Henry High School, Class of 1989. Mrs. Dodd attended Ashworth University, majoring in Early Childhood Education. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA, and was employed as a preschool teacher with Centenary Preschool. Sharon was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin who enjoyed planting flowers, riding ATV’s, reading and being with children. Many people will remember seeing her at Mecklenburg County Public Schools’ sporting events supporting her husband as he coached. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dodd was preceded in death by a sister, Ophelia Daniel, and a brother, Paul Smith. Left to cherish and celebrate her life is her husband of 25 years, Lamont Dodd of Chase City, VA; daughter, Kwanza Dodd (TyQuan Wilson, fiancé) of Chase City, VA; one granddaughter, Ashtyn Wilson of Chase City, VA; a godson, DeAndre Goode (Jessica) of Chase City, VA; seven brothers, Walter Smith, Jr., (JoAnn), Silas Smith and Chester Smith (Jackie) all of Red Oak, VA, Wayne Smith of Boydton, VA, Leonard Daniel of Saxe, VA, Clifford Daniel of Roanoke, VA and Kenny Daniel of Landover Hills, MD; four sisters, Daisy Pettus and Regina Smith both of Red Oak, VA, Teresea Pettus (Quincy) of Boydton, VA and Tammy Smith of South Hill, VA; mother-in-law, Barbara Smithson (James) of Chase City, VA; sisters-in-law, Vanessa Haskins (Keith) and Barbara Smith both of Chase City, VA; brother-in-law, Marvin Dodd (Christy) of Chase City, VA; devoted friend, Susan Lawson Mellott, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Sharon Lorraine Dodd will be conducted 1:30 P.M., Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the Robert E. Lee Auditorium, 121 E. Second Street, Chase City, VA with Rev. Harry L. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Boydton, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Mask are required for all viewings. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
