Mrs. Sarah Luvinia Burton, 74, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Friday, October 7, 2022 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.
Mrs. Burton was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on September 24, 1948, to the late Piercie Cromwell and Tassie Maude Ethel Williamson Day. She was a 1966 graduate of West End High School, and attended Wharton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Nelson, VA. Mrs. Burton began her educational career as a teacher of 30 years at Fairfax Academy of Early Learning, retiring in 2006. After retirement, she moved to Chase City, and worked at Chase City Health and Rehab Center until 2010. Mrs. Burton loved to cook for family gatherings, and spend time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Melvin Day, Eula Downey, Joseph Day, Charles Day, Benjamin Day, Hazel Boxley, Dorothy Jean Day, and son-in-law, George Pittmon, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband of 53 years, Clinton L. Burton; three daughters, Pamela Pittmon, Tiffany Burton, and LaVanda Burton; two grandsons, Jamari Burton and Jovon Mills Jr.; brother, Clifton Day; sister, Clara Trawick; her mother-in-law, Lucy Burton; eight sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law , and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Luvinia Burton will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 14, 2022 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Darryl T. Howard, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wharton Memorial Garden, Nelson, VA. Public viewing will begin on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until service time.
Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
