Mrs. Sarah Louise Elam, 61, of Red Oak, Virginia entered eternal rest Friday, June 27, 2008 at Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. Mrs. Elam was born in Charlotte County, VA Dec. 6, 1946 to the late John and Cora Boyd Rawlings. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA. Sarah loved to go fishing, play bingo, work crossword puzzles and play cards. Sarah was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, James and William Rawlings and one sister, Minnie R. Elam.  She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Daniel Elam of Red Oak, VA; five sons, Wayne Rawlings (Pamela) of Oxford, NC, Daniel Rawlings (Wendy) of Meherrin, VA, David Elam Larry Elam (Tonya)  of Halifax, VA and Michael Elam (Tiffany) of Clover, VA; two daughters, Margaret Elam of Chase City, VA and Shavonda Elam of Red Oak, VA; 18 grandchildren, one sister, Nancy Rawlings of Fort Mitchell, VA; two adopted sisters, Arlene Staten and Linda Delahoyde; five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, three aunts, Estelle Boyd, Hazel Mosley and Elvira Boyd; one uncle, Henry Redd and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Louise Elam will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg VA with Rev. Opie Terrell, officiating. Burial will follow in the Rawlings family cemetery, Chase City, VA.  Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St., Chase City, VA.
