Mrs. Sandra Delphine Tucker Coleman 47, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at VCU/MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Coleman was born in Mecklenburg County, VA March 8, 1961 to Earl A. and Laura Taylor Tucker. She was a 1979 graduate of Bluestone Senior High School and continued her education at Virginia State University, Petersburg, VA and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1984. Sandra taught students in grades “K” through “12” over the span of her teaching career in Charlotte and Mecklenburg Counties. She also worked as Dept. Chair of Special Education from 2006 until her illness caused her to leave the school system in June 2007. Sandra joined Concord Baptist Church at an early age. As an adult she served as secretary for the Gospel Choir on which she sang, served as Youth Director, Coordinator for Vacation Bible School, Program Committee, Pastor’s Aide, she served on the pulpit committee as secretary during the process of electing a pastor, and on the By-Laws Committee. In Addition to the Gospel Choir at Concord, Sandra also sang and served as secretary on the Gethsemane Workshop Choir, South Hill, VA. She attended the Freedom Life Church of God in Henderson, NC. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 23 years Ronnie Coleman; one daughter, LaToya Elizabeth Coleman, Ferrum, VA; her mother, Deacon Laura Taylor Tucker, Chase City, VA; one brother, Larry Lee Tucker (Alma) of Drakes Branch, VA; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bettie G. Taylor of Chase City, VA; two devoted friends, Minister Ora Mason of Richmond, VA and Mrs. Mary Ward of Boydton, VA; seven sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Delphine Tucker Coleman will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Jeff Prewer delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
