Samuel Raleigh Williamson, Sr.

Mr. Samuel Raleigh Williamson, Sr., 80, of South Boston, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, March 8, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Williamson was born in Beacon, NY March 6, 1940 to the late James S. and Sarah Faulkner Williamson. He was a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA. Prior to retirement he was a chef at the Fishkill Correctional Facility in Beacon, NY. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyrone Williamson; four brothers, Earnest A. Williamson, John H. Williamson, Jerry Williamson and Henry Watkins, and a sister, Henrietta W. Fountain. Left to cherish precious memories are his wife, Willie Roberts Williamson of South Boston, VA; two sons, Samuel R. Williamson, Jr. of South Boston, VA and Paul Williamson (Deborah) of Lillington, NC; four grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Williamson of Orlando, Fl and Frances W. Newton of Peekskill, NY; a brother, James Williamson (Evelyn) of Colonial Heights, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Raleigh Williamson, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Cherry Hill Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Dr. Linda Thornton delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until 10:45AM at the church. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
