Samuel Pettus, Jr.

Mr. Samuel Pettus, Jr., 79, of Chase City, VA died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Comfort Care of VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.

Mr. Pettus, affectionately known as “Hank”, was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on October 31, 1943 to the late Samuel and Lessie Pettus. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Greater Union Baptist Church in Chase City, VA. Mr. Pettus was a retiree of Huss, Inc. having worked for more than 30 plus years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Geneva H. Pettus of Chase City, VA; step-daughter, D. Lisa Johnson (Edward) of Richmond, VA; several grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne Brown (Jim) of Egg Harbor, NJ, BJ Love of Fayetteville, NC, Doris Burton-Blake and Estelle Pettus both of Piscataway, NJ; brothers, Woodrow Pettus (Shirley) of Fayetteville, NC, Glen Pettus (Yvonne) and James Pettus both of Chase City, VA; sister-in-law, Lucy Simmons of Fort Lauderdale, FL; numerous nieces and nephews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Pettus, Jr. will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Pastor Linda Goode officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA, with repast to follow at Greater Union Baptist Church. Public viewing will begin on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 1:45 P.M.
