Samuel Milton Hayes

Mr. Samuel Milton Hayes, 88, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond, VA.   Mr. Hayes was born in Mecklenburg County, VA August 25, 1925 to the late Charlie Norman and Sarah Taylor Hayes.  He was educated in the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and later entered the U. S. Navy, where he served in World War II. Mr. Hayes was a member of Williams Grove Baptist Church, Chase City, VA, were he served as a deacon for many years.  He was a retired farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Mae Salley and two daughters, Jane Carol Hayes and Zelma E. Hayes Atkinson. He leaves to cherish his memories four sons, Braxton, Roger (Frances), Archie and Harvey (Vern); one daughter, Joyce (Clarence); seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great uncle, Sammy Lewis Hayes; eight sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.   Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Milton Hayes will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 14, 2014 at Williams Grove Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Andy Hargrove, officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.   Online condolences may be expressed at www.harrisfhc.com.
