Ruth Johnson Barksdale Pamplin

Mrs. Ruth Johnson Barksdale Pamplin, 90 of Drakes Branch, VA entered eternal rest Friday, August 29, 2008 at her residence.  Mrs. Pamplin was born in Lunenburg County, VA July 30, 1918 to the late Clarence E. and Gracie Farrow Johnson. She attended the schools of Lunenburg County, VA and was a member of Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA. Mrs. Pamplin was a homemaker.  Cherishing her memories are three children, Gracie B. Saunders (George) of Saxe, VA, James Barksdale of Burkeville, VA and Clara Rebecca Barksdale of Carteret, NJ; 32 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Evelyn Foster of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, Roy Fields of White Plains, NY; two daughters-in-law, Jeanette Green of Mount Vernon, NY and Dorothy Green of NJ; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Johnson of Mount Vernon, NY and Martha Pamplin of Rehoboth, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Johnson Barksdale Pamplin will be conducted 12:00 Noon Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Fran S. Jackson, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time.  Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
