Russell E. Yancey

Mr. Russell Edward Yancey, 49, of Newark, NJ formerly of Buffalo Jct., VA entered eternal rest Sunday, January 18, 2009 in Newark, NJ. Mr. Yancey was born in Buffalo Jct., VA March 17, 1959 to Phyllis V. Haskins Yancey and the late Richard E. Yancey.  He was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church, Buffalo Jct.. VA, upon moving to Newark, NJ he became affiliated with the St. James and Metropolitan churches of Newark, NJ.  He attended Hillcrest Elementary School, Clarksville, VA and graduated from the Newark NJ public schools. He received an associate’s degree in science majoring in Legal Assistance Studies at Essex County College. Mr. Yancey was a paralegal and attending Rutgers University to obtain a Bachelors Degree in that field. Cherishing his memories are his daughter, Jeaneen Lloyd, Dumfries, VA; his mother,  Phyllis Yancey, Buffalo Jct., VA; one brother, Rodney Yancey, Buffalo Jct., VA; one sister, Marion Yancey, Newark, NJ, three uncles, Grafton Yancey,  Buffalo Jct., VA, Henry Haskins, Annandale, VA and William Haskins, Arlington, VA; three aunts, Priscilla Haskins and Portia Haskins both of Arlington, VA and Shirley Yancey, Buffalo Jct., VA; two great aunts, Jenny B. Harvey, Burlington, NC and Katie Long, Huff Mill, NC; devoted niece, Angel Yancey and  great niece, India Yancey both of Newark, NJ and vast number of other  loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Russell Edward Yancey will be conducted  12:00 Noon Saturday, January 24,  2009 at St. Mark Baptist Church,  Buffalo Jct., VA with    Rev. James E. Lester, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 4th St., Clarksville, VA.
