Deacon Rudolph Valentino Somerville Sr. 82, of Clarksville, VA peacefully entered into eternal rest Friday, July 22, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Somerville was born in Mecklenburg County, VA September 9, 1928, the son of the late Ezra and Fleeta Venable Somerville. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County School System. At an early age he joined Saint John Baptist Church, where he served in the following capacities: Deacon, Chairman of the Trustee Board, Treasurer, Male Chorus, Usher Board and Senior Choir. He was a faithful member until his health began to decline. Rudolph was a 35 year employee of Burlington Industries before retiring and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Luther Somerville; four sisters, Frances Bain, Willie Clark, Grace Davis and Lillie Somerville.  Cherishing his memories are his wife, Jeanette Daniel Somerville; two sons, Rudolph V. Somerville and Kenneth A. Somerville; four grandchildren, Carlo Somerville, Kristy Somerville, Kiara Somerville and Kiana Somerville; one brother, Ezra Somerville; two sisters, Mary Davis and Catherine Tyler; one sister-in-law, Mattie Somerville; one brother-in-law, James Daniel and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.  Funeral services for Deacon Rudolph Valentino Somerville, Sr.  will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 25, 2011 at Saint John Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Charles Sands, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
