Roy L. Hayes

Deacon. Roy L. Hayes, 94, of Skipwith, VA entered eternal rest Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at his residence. Deacon. Hayes was born in Mecklenburg County, VA March 18, 1917 to the late Charlie Norman Hayes and Sarah Elizabeth Taylor Hayes. He attended Whitman school in Mecklenburg County, VA. He was baptized at an early age and joined Williams Grove Baptist Church after relocating to the Washington, DC area he joined Saint Charles Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Hayes was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Hayes and five siblings. Cherishing his memories are one brother, Samuel M. Hayes of Skipwith, VA; three sisters-in-law and a vast number of nieces, nephews other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Deacon Roy L. Hayes will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 7, 2011 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Frank S. Harrison, officiating. Burial will follow Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Suitland, MD. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
