Mrs. Rosebud Pompey Stovall, 95, of Chase City, VA entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at her residence.
A native of Cleveland County, NC, she was born February 23, 1927 to the late Jay Pompey and Ethel Hoard.
Mrs. Stovall was a former member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She, like her sons, loved salt and fresh water fishing, gardening, adult coloring books and spending time with her family. Her favorite thing she looked forward to was having her Friday rides with her beloved son, Calvin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Alexander, Richard Smith and Garfield Stovall; son, Charles Alexander; stepson, Clinton Richmond; two sisters, Christine Phillips and Iva Jay Modisette; and her brother, James Pompey .
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons; James Alexander (Paula) of Syracuse, NY and Calvin Alexander (Janett) of Chase City, VA; two daughters, Josephine Alexander and Faye Coleman (Claude) of Richmond, VA; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; brother, Vernon Jay Pompey (Selma), of Gastonia, NC, daughter-in-law, Joyce Alexander; sisters-in-law; Viola McFail and Selma Pompey; brother-in-law, Elijah Phillips; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosebud P. Stovall will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 3, 2023 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Goode, Officiating. Burial will follow in Silone Memorial Garden, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
