Ms. Rosa M. Redd Shields, 82 of Red Oak, VA entered eternal rest Monday, March 14, 2016 at VCU Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Ms. Shields was born in Red Oak, VA September 10, 1933 to the late Willie Redd and Sallie Mosley Redd Morton. She attended Salem School in Red Oak and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Ms. Shields enjoyed sewing, baking and playing cards. In addition to her parents, Ms. Shields was preceded in death by three brothers, Jessie and Woodell Redd and Littell Mosley and two sisters, Emma Marable and Rena Harris. Cherishing her memories are three daughters, Nan Stovall and Rosa Mae Darden both of Red Oak, VA and Co-Pastor Estell Watson (Pastor Wilbert Watson) of Chesterfield, VA; grandsons and a nephew she raised as sons, Calvin Stovall (Sharon) of Drakes Branch, VA, Antonio Shields of Richmond, VA and Charlie Marable, Jr. (Anita) of Charlotte Court House, VA; eight grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva Wilson of Drakes Branch, VA; two brothers, Willie Redd of Red Oak, VA and Elijah Redd (Marie) of Skipwith, VA; two sisters-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Ms. Shields will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March, 19, 2016 at Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA with Rev. Roger Allen, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Public viewing for family and friends Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Services 2:00 P.M.
