Roderick Deland Bass

Mr. Roderick “Rod”  Deland  Bass, 41, of Chase City, VA entered eternal  rest Saturday, November 23, 2013 at VCU/MCV Hospitals , Richmond, VA. Mr. Bass was born in Halifax County , VA June 8, 1972 to Tony, Sr. and Yvonne Bouldin Bass.  He was a graduate of Bluestone High School, Skipwith, VA and was a member of New Light Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA, where he sang in the choir.  Mr. Bass was formerly employed by Marriot Renaissance, Richmond, VA as a kitchen supervisor. Cherishing his memories are three children, Roderick Bass, Jr.  and  Alisha Bass both of Clarksville, VA and Kaniesha Bass of Pensacola,  FL; one god-daughter, Cierra Roberts of Clarksville, VA; one grandson, Josiah Benjamin of Clarksville, VA; his parents, Tony Bass, Sr., of Chase City, VA and Yvonne Bass of Drakes Branch, VA; one brother, Tony Bass, Jr. of Richmond, VA; one sister, Amanda Campbell of Lawrenceville, VA; grandmother, Rubye Bouldin of Drakes Branch, VA, eight uncles, eight aunts  and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Roderick Deland Bass will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 29, 2013 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris, officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Light Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA.  Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Service 2:00 P. M.
