Robert Thomas Mitchell

Deacon Robert Thomas Mitchell, 89, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Meadowview Terrace, Clarksville, VA.  Deacon Mitchell was born in Clarksville, VA September 25, 1922 to the late Thomas and Rebecca Pollard Mitchell. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church. Deacon Mitchell was a WWII Army veteran and was formerly employed at Burlington Industries and Russell Stover Candies. In addition to his parents Deacon Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Moody Mitchell; two children, Robert T. Mitchell Jr. and Ralph L. Mitchell and five siblings. Cherishing his memories are two daughters, Larnice Shannon of Columbia, MD and Caroline Mitchell of Hainesport, NJ; two sons, Alvin  Mitchell (Marjorie) and Wayne Mitchell of Ewing Township, NJ; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Deacon Robert T. Mitchell will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Mount Ararat Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA with Rev. Raymond Roberts, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing for Mr. Roberts will begin 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Mount Ararat Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Homes and Cremation Service.
