Robert Harris

Robert Lee Harris, 83, was born on July 10, 1935 and entered into eternal rest on Oct. 10, 2018. Robert was a native of Chase City, VA and a longtime resident of Newport News. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after many years of service. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane Elam Harris. He is survived by three daughters, Matlean Smart, Loretta Harris, and Barbara Harris, all of Newport News; two sons, Robert Harris of Baltimore, MD, and Sam Butcher of Newport News; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Time of Prayer and Reflections was held at 11 a.m., Sat., Oct. 13, 2018 at O.H. Smith Funeral Home, Newport News, VA. Burial will be 12:00 Noon Monday October 15, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Local arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
