Robert Edward Reed

Mr. Robert Edward Reed, 63, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, VA. Mr. Reed was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on May 1, 1956 to the late John Amos and Mattie Jane Terry Reed. He attended Bluestone Senior High School in Skipwith, VA, and in his younger years Bluestone Baptist Church. Mr. Reed was a retiree of Burlington Industries, having worked for 39 years. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reed was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Amos and Willie Reed, and two sisters, Clairese Reed Smith and Luvenia Reed. He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Jermaine Reed (Kendra) of Richmond, VA, Michael Reed (Nesita) of Colonial Heights, VA, and Steven Skipwith of Clarksville, VA; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mattie Bell Barnes (Howard) of Hampton, VA and Isabelle Reed of Chase City, VA; a devoted nephew, Willie Reed, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Robert Edward Reed will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Elder Steven Odemns delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing will begin on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
