Robert Edward Atkins

Mr. Robert Edward Atkins, 75, of Skipwith, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Atkins was born in Skipwith, VA on February 1, 1941 to the late Joe and Robbie Crowell Atkins. He attended historic Thyne Institute and was a member of New Light Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA. Mr. Atkins was a farmer who enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Webb and Katherine Hutchinson and two brothers, Lewis and Joseph (Roy) Atkins. Cherishing his memories are one sister, Alice Winkler of Skipwith, VA; one brother, Linwood Atkins of Chase City, VA; two sisters-in-law, Martha Ann Royster Atkins and Renail Boyd Atkins; special nieces, Paula Webb, and Carolyn Winkler Tucker; adopted children, Aiyana Davis, Aniyah Craddock and Trey Tucker; a special friend and boss, Mike Winn and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Robert Edward Atkins will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Sunday, October 30, 2016 at New Light Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
