Rev. Dr. James Coleman Jr., 62 of Hayes, VA and formerly of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest Friday, May, 4, 2012 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Gloucester, VA. Rev. Dr. Coleman was born in Glen Ridge, NJ August 6, 1949 to the late James and Alice Coleman; he was a graduate of East Orange High School and a veteran of the US Army. While in Edison, New Jersey he was the owner and operator of Coleman and Son. Rev. Dr. Coleman obtained a Master’s Degree in Theology and two Doctorate degrees in both Theology and Biblical Studies from Triune Biblical University in Kelso, WA. Rev. Dr. Coleman served as the Chaplain of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Dept. and Senior Chaplain at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, Burkeville, VA He also served as the pastor of Berean Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. In addition to his parents, Rev. Dr. Coleman was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha, and a sister, Alice Christine. Cherishing his memories are his wife Nellie Berry Coleman of Hayes, VA; five children, Ricky (Diane), Tracie, Jay (Sophia), Mara and Brooke; seven grandchildren, Antwan, Christopher, Rayland, Madison, Myles, Alisha and Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Senoia, Elijah and Rickey; four sisters, Jean, Geraldine, Cora, Alice and Sharon; five brothers, Nathaniel, William, Clinton, Daniel and Arthur and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Rev. Dr. James Coleman, Jr. will be conducted 11:30 A.M. Thursday May 10, 2012 at Berean Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris and Rev. Dennis King conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
